Parish Clerk Vacancy

This is the information that was published when advertising for the position of Clerk to Sway Parish Council in February/March 2016.



A vacancy has arisen for the post of Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to Sway Parish Council. 

Excellent literacy, communication and numeracy skills are vital, as are tact and diplomacy.  Applicants should be competent with Word, Excel and basic accounting as a minimum.  Any web-editing experience would be viewed positively - as would local knowledge.

Ideally candidates would have previous experience as a Parish Clerk or Assistant Clerk, preferably hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) qualification (or working towards it), or have worked in a similar position in third-tier government.

The Council has an office based at the Jubilee Field Pavilion in Sway, from which successful candidate would be expected to work, although this could be mixed with home working as mutually agreed.

The post will be based initially on 20 hours per week and whilst the hours are flexible, the successful candidate will be expected to manage the workload within the hours available and will be required to attend Council meetings held in the evening (usually on the second and the fourth Thursday of each month).

The salary will be pro-rata within the National Joint Council for Local Government Services (NJC) pay scale points 23 - 26 (£20,849 - £22,937 pro rata), according to experience and qualifications.
