Councillor Len Thomas

I was born in Richmond, Surrey, but have lived in Sway for over thirty years. I started work at age fifteen, as an apprentice joiner with my father's building firm, which I then took over when he died.

I have been a Councillor for the last four years, being on the Planning and Transport Committee, Open Spaces Working Group, HR Working Group and Jubilee Field Users' Group. I continue to sit on the Amenities Working Group and HR Working Group. I am also the representative for the Parish Council on the Village Hall Committee and Youth Centre.

I am a volunteer for the Friends of Sway Station, Sway Cinema and Community SpeedWatch. In my spare time I play tennis, badminton and table tennis.

I am excited by the new format of the Council as it has seven ladies and five gents - a first for Sway - and also a very capable Clerk. It is a younger Council than we have had before, which will make me 'The Father of the House'.
